McDonald’s Employee Fired After Exposing Behind the Counter Images

Teenage McDonald’s worker got fired after exposing images of the “disgusting” conditions at the restaurant he works at

Nick decided to share on Twitter a series of images that he took from the LaPlace, Louisiana store’s ice cream machine to show the world the truth behind the counter. The pictures soon went viral, with more than 30,000 retweets and likes.

“I shared it because I wanted to let people know what they’re consuming, and how disgusting the conditions are,” Nick told BuzzFeed News

A few days after, he decided to post even more pictures that he took inside the restaurant. They included pictures of frozen McDonald’s food.

The consequence of posting these photos was unfortunate for Nick. McDonald’s fired him and banned him from the restaurant. Moreover, he was asked to immediately delete the pictures.

“They banned me from that McDonald’s,” he said

In an email that the LaPlace restaurant sent to Business Insider, it mentioned that it has a long history of passing regular health department inspections. However, pictures don’t lie, do they?

“Our primary goal is to operate a clean and safe restaurant,” the owner, John Valluzzo, said. “We regularly conduct in-person and online employee training sessions as well as internal inspections to ensure crew members are following safe food practices.”

As soon as McDonald’s China saw the pictures, it decided to take action and respond. The company posted a statement on its website in which it reassures customers that its ice cream machines are clean.

“We’re paying attention to the information being reposted today online about US ice cream machines,” McDonald’s China said. “In China, ice cream machines used at McDonald’s restaurants are automatically disinfected every day at a set time to ensure food safety.”
