US Rapper XXXTentacion Shot Dead in Florida

Famous rapper XXXTentacion, aged 20, was shot to death in Broward County, South Florida, on Monday, June 18th 2018.

XXXTentacion, or Jahseh Onfroy on his real name, was seen on Monday leaving a motorcycle shop located in Fort Lauderdale shortly before 4 pm, local time, when a dark-colored SUV with two men inside came close to him and shot him to death in what appears to be a robbery, as the office of the county sheriff explained.

The star was taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, the medical staff pronounced him dead.

People usually described Onfroy as one of the most controversial rappers and he was also facing 15 charges of domestic violence, including some against his pregnant girlfriend.

XXXTentacion quickly rose to fame after uploading several songs to SoundCloud. Numerous people saw him as a breakthrough talent, which is why some hip-hop luminaries poured countless tributes in the wake of his tragic death. Most of his songs tackled sensitive subjects such as depression and he received praise from some of the most high-profile stars in the rap music industry.

A few hours after his death was announced, fans started to share a video that Onfroy previously posted on his Instagram account where he spoke about how he would like his fans to remember him in case he were to die.

“If worse thing comes to worst, and I f***ing die a tragic death or some s*** and I’m not able to see out my dreams, I at least want to know that the kids perceived my message and were able to make something of themselves and able to take my message and use it and turn it into something positive and to at least have a good life,” were his words.

The rapper continued: “If I’m going to die or ever be a sacrifice, I want to make sure that my life made at least five million kids happy or they found some sort of answers or resolve in my life regardless of the negative around my name, regardless of the bad things people say to me.
“I don’t give a f*** because I know my goal in the end and I know what I want for everyone and I know what my message is. I just wanted to say, I appreciate and love all of you and I believe in you all.”

When he heard the tragic news, rapper Kanye West said: “Rest in peace I never told you how much you inspired me when you were here thank you for existing.”

Keyla Concepción, who is the public information officer in Broward County sheriff department, mentioned that deputies in the region are actively searching for the two men in the dark-colored SUV and are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or has any details on the event to contact the authorities.
