Ohio Governor’s Kasich and a Maryland County were hacked, displaying a pro-ISIS propaganda message
On Sunday, Ohio Governor’s John Kasich, as well as a Maryland County were hacked. Visitors entering the governor.ohio.gov website were welcomed with a black background and with an Arabic symbol, while an Islamic call to prayer played in the background.
The landing page displayed: “You will be held accountable Trump, you and all your people for every drop of blood flowing in Muslim countries.”
Following this line was: “I Love Islamic state.”
The Team System DZ, whose name was also present on the hacked black page, also hacked numerous other state websites, which included first lady Karen Kasich’s website, as well as the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections website.
All of the other hacked pages displayed the same message. The line that said “Hacked by Team System DZ.” was present on all of the pages.
However, it was not clear who was behind this, or whether it was genuinely affiliated with ISIS.
Kasich’s staff mentioned that they knew about the hack and that they were working to solve this unpleasant issue. Moreover, they were working on the hack on the Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections website when they were noticed about their own hack.
Tom Hoyt, spokesman for the Ohio Department of Administrative Services said in another statement that the IT staff were working to solve the unpleasant issue.
“All affected servers have been taken offline and we are investigating how these hackers were able to deface these websites,” he said. “We also are working with law enforcement to better understand what happened.”
Josh Mandel, the State Treasurer, posted on Facebook: “Wake up freedom-loving Americans,” he said. “Radical Islam infiltrating the heartland.”
The FBI’s Ohio field office would not confirm, but neither deny that they knew Team System DZ.
