Scratch-and-sniff stamps are now a thing at the US Postal Service

The U.S. Postal Service has recently announced that they are introducing a new type of stamps that release a sweet summer-ish scent. The new collection is called “Frozen Treats” and features images of icy pops of various flavors.

This image was provided by the U.S. Postal Service and shows the new stamps that will be available starting off June 20th, 2018. They are the first-ever scratch-and-sniff stamps in their collection and the first ones to evoke the sweet and cheerful scent of summer everyone is in love with.

The collection will comprise 10 different designs and each stamp will have a watercolor image of two ice pops on sticks. They will be issued in the form of a booklet of 20 stamps.

The announcement was made on Monday, May 21st when the U.S. Postal Service said that there would be one scent for all stamps in this collection. However, the smell was not unveiled yet and will remain a secret until the day of the release, as Mark Saunders, the public relations representative of the postal service said.

Additionally, he said “In recent years, frozen treats containing fresh fruit such as kiwi, watermelon, blueberries, oranges, and strawberries have become more common. In addition, flavors such as chocolate, root beer, and cola are also popular.”

The designs resemble the work of the artist Margaret Berg of Santa Monica, California. Antonio Alcalá, the art director at U.S. Postal Service, and designer Leslie Badani worked at the stamp designs.

The Frozen Treats Forever stamp collection will be launched on June 20th in a ceremony held at Austin’s Thinkery Children’s Museum.
The price of a 20-stamp booklet is of only $10 and the products are already available for pre-order. So, stamp collectors and enthusiasts from all over the world, waste no more time and consider enriching your collections with these sweet-smelling scratch-and-sniff stamps that will remind you of summer times.
