President Emmanuel Macron will visit West African counter-terrorism troops deployed in Mali
As almost 6.000 French troops are established in Africa for military peacekeeping services, sources have announced that President Macron will travel in the area today to visit the French base in north of Mali.
Currently, France has three main French bases in Africa, Djibouti, Senegal and Gabon, and a smaller one in Reunion island. In Mali, French soldiers fight Islamic militants for four years now.
During the official visit, President Macron, the Defence Minister Sylvie Goulard, the Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and chief of French Development Agency Remy Riouxhas will meet Mali’s President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, as well as the French military troops summing up almost 4.000 soldiers. Macron is expected to continue the AFD military policy on the African continent.
The second official visit comes only one week after Mr. Macron was invested as the country’s President. The first one was in Berlin, Germany, where Emmanuel Macron met Angela Merkel, as soon as the second day after the inauguration ceremony in France.
