Amazon Made Record Sales with their Smart Home Devices this Christmas

Amazon Alexa was the most downloaded app on Christmas this year, both on Google Play and Apple App Store. The Alexa companion app helps users command their smart home devices with the Alexa virtual assistant. Alexa can be used with a lot of devices like watches, laptops, thermostats, smoke detectors, etc.

Amazon’s CEO of worldwide consumer Jeff Wilke stated that more than 1 billion items were sold, although not specifying the exact sales number.

Some of the other popular smart home devices they sold were the Echo Dot smart speaker, Google Home app, Ring Video Doorbell 2, Amazon Smart Plug, iRobot Roomba 690, TP-Link Kasa Smart Plug Mini Outlet, and others.

They also had a lot of best-selling toys, like LOL Surprise! Glam Glitter series, The Ner N-Srike Elite Strongarm Blaster, Lego Creator Mighty Dinosaurs Toy, Crayola Ispiration Art Case, and more.

Customers also spent a lot on Carhartt clothing and accessories, as well as Champion, Calvin Klein, and UGG brand items, amounting to sales of over 1 million units.

Amazon also said that tens of millions of their customers signed up for Prime trusting them to deliver their orders in time for Christmas. In the US 1 billion items were shipped with Prime, either through a free trial or by paying for a membership.
