Instagram Now Lets You Add Soundtracks to Your Stories

Instagram users can now enhance their stories by adding popular songs to the feature

TechCrunch had the prototype for the music feature in May and it is now officially launching to iOS and Android users in six countries.

Facebook’s recent deals with various record labels now allow users to choose from thousands of songs from artists such as Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Calvin Harris and more. With this addition, Instagram Stories can become more fun to post and watch.

Instagram Stories has 400 million daily users, up from 250 million a year ago, meaning that the feature is growing six times faster than Snapchat’s entire application.

“Now you can add a soundtrack to your story that fits any moment and helps you express how you’re feeling,” Instagram writes

There will be a special song sticker that users can access after they shoot a photo or video. They can search either for a specific song, or browse by mood, genre and popularity. After they selected the song, they can pick a specific snippet to accompany their content. On the other hand, iOS users can choose the song before recording the video or taking a picture by switching to the Music shutter mode in the Stories camera. This feature will also come to Android.

When someone watches a music-equipped Story, the song will post automatically. Moreover, they will be able to tap on the sticker to see the name and artist of the song.

With this new feature, users will be able to showcase their lip syncing talents, add a clashing background for comedic effect or create an emotional setting.
