The Big Winners of the 2019 Golden Globes are “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Green Book”

The 76th annual Golden Globes Awards ceremony that took place this Sunday crowned the Queen biopic as the best drama with two major prizes, and the Mahershala Ali road trip comedy as the best musical/comedy with three wins

The biopic about Freddie Mercury and Queen won best drama and best actor in a drama for Rami Malek at this year’s Golden Globes Awards. Meanwhile, “Green Book”, the true story of the friendship between an African-American pianist and a white bouncer in the early 1960s, took home the best musical/comedy award, as well as best screenplay and best supporting actor for Mahershala Ali.

In advance of the Oscar nominations that will take place on January 22nd, the Globes wins mark Rami Malek as one of the favorites, leaving “A Star is Born” running the race for the Oscars against multiple competitors, like “Roma”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and now “The Wife”.

Among other winners were a lot of British actors, that took home quite a few awards, like Olivia Coleman for best actress in a comedy/musical for “The Favorite”, and Christian Bale as best actor in comedy/musical for “Vice”. As well as Richard Madden that got for best actor in a TV series drama award for “Bodyguard”, and Ben Whishaw for best actor in a supporting role for “A Very English Scandal”.
