Two New Harry Potter Books to be Published in October

Publisher Bloomsbury announced the launch of two new Harry Potter books that will mark the 20 years from the publication of the first book in the series

Two celebrate 20 years since the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was published, two new books are said to come out in October, accompanying a Harry Potter exhibition at the British Library.

The titles are:

  • Harry Potter: A History of Magic, The Book of the Exhibition, and
  • Harry Potter, A Journey Through a History of Magic

The first book surveys the subjects studied at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, while the second takes the reader on a journey full of history of the Harry Potter world, while also delving them into the stories behind spells, magical creatures and famous wizards and witches.

Even though the books do not add new stories about the original Harry Potter characters, they explore the magical world and feed into the growing world of its experiences, which includes the West End play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, as well as the Harry Potter Warner Brothers Studio tour, located in North London.

Moreover, there is also a Kickstarter campaign to open a “wizarding” pub in London next year, which is not affiliated with the official Harry Potter franchise.

These tremendous news come as part of Bloomsbury’s quarterly trading update. The company recorded a 19% year-on-year rise in total revenues, driven by their Consumer division. On the other hand, in the Non-Consumer division, sales of digital resources are up by 16%.

Bloomsbury’s best seller titles include:

  • Tom Kerridge’s Dopamine Diet
  • The Strange Death of Euopre by Douglas Murray
  • Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World by Kate Pankhurst
  • Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

At the same time, Bloomsbury says that its digital resources are performing well and reflect the trend across both publishing and advertising industries towards online and digital.
